There is a national dialogue occurring following the horrific tragedy in Newtown about violence, autism spectrum disorders (including Asperger’s Syndrome) and mental illness. I don’t know what the outcome will be of this discussion, but I do know one thing for sure.  Children and teens with Asperger’s Syndrome or other autism spectrum disorders are teased, bullied, stigmatized and excluded, and their parents are judged as being bad parents. We have the power as individuals to change this stigma and turn things around, and to make our world a better place. I challenge us to be the change we want to see in the world! Following Ann Curry’s lead to engage in 26 Acts of Kindness, I suggest #28Acts of Kindness, remembering all the lives lost, directed towards someone with Asperger’s, autism or mental illness.

Imagine if everyone could commit to doing one act of kindness for each life lost, directed towards someone with Asperger’s or autism or mental illness. An act of kindness big or small. Are you in?

  1. I could not agree with you more. I will commit my #28Acts, not 26, because of what you have said.
